10mm dynamic driver.
Front enclosure: Stainless steel.
Body enclosure: ABS resin.
Rear enclosure: Various types of wood, stainless steel, brass, and copper.

MIROAK has been redesigned and renewed as MIROAK-II. The front enclosure utilises stainless steel, offering a sound similar to LOAK-S. The body’s resin enclosure, unlike a metal enclosure, provides a certain level of elasticity, dynamically moving the diaphragm. It deviates significantly from the light and delicate tonal quality of the previous MIROAK, featuring a lively and powerful sound characterised by the resin enclosure.

Sound characteristics

  • Powerful and pronounced mid-low range.
  • Easy to listen to with a mild tonal quality.
  • Rich and impactful low frequencies due to the vibration suppression of the stainless steel enclosure and the suppleness of the resin enclosure.

Unlike the delicate and light, clear and easy-to-listen sound of the previous MIROAK, MIROAK-II offers a type of sound that is powerful and thick in the mid-low range while maintaining a mild and easy-to-listen quality. The high-contrast sound from the stainless steel enclosure, combined with the voluminous low frequencies from the resin material, produces a dynamic sound with impressive impact.

Cocobolo

This is the MIROAK-II crafted from Cocobolo wood. Cocobolo wood exhibits significant individual variations, with some pieces showing an orange hue when cut, while others have a deep caramel-like colour. Some have prominent black lines in the grain, while others have an overall brownish appearance.

Currently, Cocobolo wood is the most frequently chosen material for the MIROAK-II. Especially the Cocobolo being used recently tends to be hard and dry, resulting in a clear and distinct sound. In terms of hardness and density, it’s comparable to African Blackwood, which is one step up. However, Cocobolo has a slightly warmer tonal quality, making it an excellent choice when seeking a wood-specific sound.

Conversely, softer and oilier Cocobolo or Rosewood would provide an even warmer and fuller sound.

Padauk

This is the MIROAK-II featuring Padauk wood. This particular piece has a slightly stronger reddish hue. The wood is hard but not exceptionally dense, offering a balanced combination of lightweight and hardness.

Sound-wise, it’s characterised by a bright mid-to-high range and a light, airy quality. It’s just a bit crisper in comparison to Cocobolo or Rosewood.

If you’re seeking a crisp, bright, and light-hearted sound, choosing wood with moderate density and hardness like Padauk is a good choice.

Copper Blue

This is the MIROAK-II with copper used for the rear components. The blue hue of the copper is a result of the traditional colouring technique called “Copper Blue” from Momentum Factory Orii.

It delivers a strong sound with solid mid-range frequencies, but the super-high frequencies are more subdued. While it has a robust sound, it’s slightly milder in nature.
